taking things for a ride. [Jul. 23rd, 2005|02:24 pm]

[mood |amusedamused]

Xander's favourite thing to do right now, is push the laundry basket from one end of the house to the other, collecting things in it throughout the day. Right now it's contents are two books, a crayon, the cordless phone, a pair of sunglesses, a cd case, the cupholder to his stroller, and a sock.

Guess who just christened their potty?! [Jun. 18th, 2005|12:24 pm]

[mood |giddygiddy... about poop.]

We were hangin out in the bathroom so my eyebrows could get some quality time in with the tweezers, and Xander started making 'poopy noises', so I took off his diaper and plopped him on his potty. An VIOLA! We had poop! LOL. It was just a right-place at the right-time kind of thing, but I'm still going to be proud!
He liked the flushing part, and had a very serious look on his face the whole time, crinkled forehead and everything.

"I am a Toddler" [May. 24th, 2005|02:33 pm]

[mood |amusedamused]

I am a Toddler

If it is on, I must turn it off.
If it is off, I must turn it on.
If it is folded, I must unfold it.
If it is a liquid, it must be shaken, then spilled.
If it is a solid, it must be crumbled, chewed or smeared.
If it is high, it must be reached.
If it is shelved, it must be unshelved.
If it is pointed, it must be run with at top speed.
If it has leaves, they must be picked.
If it is plugged, it must be unplugged.
If it is not trash, it must be thrown away.
If it is trash, it must be removed, inspected and thrown on the floor.
If it is closed, it must be opened.
If it does not open, it must be screamed at.
If it has drawers, they must be rifled.
If it is a pencil, it must write on the refrigerator, monitor or table.
If it is full, it will be more interesting emptied.
If it is empty, it will be more interesting full.
If it is a pile of dirt, it must be laid upon.
If it is a stroller, it must under no circumstances be ridden in without
protest. It must be pushed by me instead.
If it has a flat surface, it must be banged upon.
If mommy's hands are full, I must be carried.
If mommy is in a hurry and wants to carry me, I must walk alone.
If it is paper, it must be torn.
If it has buttons, they must be pressed.
If the volume is low, it must go high.
If it is toilet paper, it must be unrolled on the floor.
If it is a drawer, it must be pulled upon.
If it is a toothbrush, it must be inserted into my mouth.
If it has a faucet, it must be turned on at full force.
If it is a phone, I must talk to it.
If it is a bug, it must be swallowed.
If it doesn't stay on my spoon, it must be dropped on the floor.
If it is not food it must be tasted.
If it IS food, it must not be tasted.
If it is dry, it must be made wet with drool, milk or toilet water.
If it is a car seat, it must be protested with arched back.
If it is mommy, it must be hugged.

I am a toddler!

Flirty McChoooch. [May. 21st, 2005|10:19 pm]

[mood |happyhappy]

We went to Adam's T-ball game this morning. Got there just in time to watch him bat once, and then the game was over. Which was perfect since Xander was desperate to get out on to that field and run around.
It took Xander under a minute to find the cutest littl girl there. He walked right over to the picnic blanket she was sitting on and started up a 'conversation' with her. (pointing to the ball being tossed around, and then to the airplane that was passing over head, jabber jabber). He's such a little flirt. Don't know where he could possibly have gotten that from ;)

Eric went to work, and Xander and I headed out to my mom's for a visit.
Xander showed off his trains to Nanny and Poppy. There was one point where he went over to Poppy and held his train out to him and when Poppy went to take it, Xander jerked it away real quick. Then he held up two trains in front of Poppy and showed him how to put them together, and then put one train in each of Poppy's hands and pushed them together. Then he clapped. It was so cute, totally like "Wait, let me show you how to do it, See? YAY! Good job Poppy!"

PetSmart [Apr. 17th, 2005|04:50 pm]

[mood |touchedtouched]

Yesterday, we went to Petsmart and Xander made me cry. He was walking down the aisle, toward this old woman. She was about eighty or ninety and didn't speak much English at all. She was with her daughter who was about sixty or so. Xander walked right up to the woman, smiled and took her hand, and started walking off with her. The womans face lit up so much, and she was talking to him in Italian in the sweetest voice. The womans daughter said to me "Oh, God blesses him, God blesses him!" Eventually Xander let go of the lady's hand to take Eric's.
A little later, in a different part of the store, Xander spotted the woman again. And he held his hands out to her like he wanted her to hold him. So she did. and he just snuggled into her. And she started to cry. she said something to her daughter who said to us, "I need his name" So we told them, and the older lady starts singing "Alexander, Alexander". God. it was the sweetest, most heart wrenching thing.

I love my little boy.

Spring Teaser? [Mar. 30th, 2005|05:13 pm]

[mood |contentcontent]

Yesterday, was the first really nice day of the year. We celebrated at Wells Park with Krys and Slater.
Xander is a slide-PRO! He went up and down (on his tummy, backwards) ALL by himself. He was so hapy about it.
More exciting than that, though, were the dogs. He "Vuff"-ed at each one when the came into sight.

He's been trying out a lots of different sounds lately. He "TOOO TOOO"'s at his trains. He tries to say 'Scott', it sounds like "KAH". And he tells the cat "Na Na Na!" when she's in trouble.

Today starts the weaning process. It's very bittersweet, but it's very much the right time. I imagine we'll still nurse during the night, and for bed time. It's going to be a very hard process too, as he's used to having it at each nap. I think we'll be spending a lot of nap-time in the car, for while.

Going to Milwaukee this weekend! Dada has a show, and Xander has goosey friends at the zoo he needs to visit! Hopefully we'll have a pool in the hotel too. Mini vacation!

Doctor, Ice cream, Post office, Kohls, Ruby Tuesdays, Bleach. and they all lived happily ever after [Mar. 5th, 2005|03:00 pm]

[mood |tiredtired]
[music |HIPPLEY!!]

Xander had a doctor appointment this morning, and a blood test. A real-from-the-arm blood test. It was horrible. Yet, somehow not as bad as I had worked it up to be. Xander's such a trooper.
He weighed in at 24 pounds 11 ounces, putting him a pound and a half from where he was in December, but still in the fiftieth percentile. No more monster baby :(
We took him out for ice cream afterward, although I think it was really to make Eric and I feel better, as Xander's not really into ice cream. Black olives on the other hand... So we went to Ruby Tuesday and gave him a big plate full of his salad bar favourites. AND he finally had a go at lettuce, and LIKED it! I realize there isn't a whole heck of a lot of nutrients in lettuce, but it's nice to see him eat something green.
Auntie Caleigh met us at the restaraunt, and then followed us home.
Xander crashed HARD when we got in the door. With his new duckie that he fell in love with at Kohls.
